Eli Stamnes
Movement specialist
I can help you get a well-functioning body, whether you are a stiff person who wants to get rid of aches & pains and move more freely; a mum who wants to regain a functional core and pelvic floor after pregnancy (it's never too late!); an athlete who wants to improve performance; or a hobby exerciser who wants to get fitter. My tool box contains a variety of training and bodywork methods, which will be customized to suit your individual needs and goals. A common denominator and crucial component of all my work - and what has become "my trademark" - is functional breathing. Let me show you how!
Areas of expertise
Yoga; mobility training; massage & bodywork; female health training; martial arts; strength, conditioning & nutrition; movement screening and functional breathing
The great joy and benefits of movement is my passion, and I thrive on helping other people experience this and develop a loving relationship with their bodies. I am a life-long student of how the human body works and how to make it move functionally and effectively. I started my trainer career already as a teenager, when I took my first qualification as a gymnastics trainer, and I have trained others and educated myself ever since.
I am now a certified yoga teacher, registered by the Yoga Alliance as an advanced, experienced teacher (ERYT500) and a continuing education provider (YACEP). I have qualifications in several forms of yoga - vinyasa flow, yin yoga, yang yoga, restorative yoga, postnatal yoga, yoga for rehabilitation - and have taught thousands of classes. In addition I have several qualifications in functional movement and mobility, including Functional Movement Screen levels 1 and 2; Functional Range Conditioning Mobility Specialist; and MovNat Certified Trainer. I have also qualifications in massage (Axelsons Institute) and mobility bodywork (Erik Dalton Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques). I have a special interest in the anatomy and function of the fascia system and have completed several courses in Anatomy Trains and Slings Myofascial Training. . Another passion of mine is functional breathing, which I have studied in depth though my yoga and functional anatomy studies, and through specialised courses. I am a certified personal trainer, female health trainer (several modalities, including Hypopressive training) and nutrition coach. I have been a karate trainer for people of all ages for many years, and have a black belt (second dan) as well as a level 2 martial arts trainer qualification from the Norwegian Martial Arts Federation (as one of just a handful in Norway).
As an academic (I have a PhD in another discipline) it is important to me that my movement work is based upon solid research, not dogma, myths or fads. Equally important is individualised planning, guidance and treatment, and a focus on consistency, a sense of mastery and joy.
I understand that it can be difficult to chose a trainer/coach/provider in this day and age when social media is full of people portraying themselves as experts. With me, you can rest assured that all the training, courses, and treatments are based upon thorough knowledge, solid qualifications and decades of experience.
